Artist & Designer: Tamara Stopinksi (a.k.a."Talulah")

Tamara Stopinski has been creating and designing for over 25 years. With a love of all things creative her journey has taken her from her very first job working as a pottery studio design assistant to a full time jewelry designer and educator. She has studied many mediums and design with area artists including Jim and Lois Kozlowski, Paul Taylor, Paxton Maffet and Alicia Fink as well she has traveled to learn with national artists such as Celie Fago, Barbara Becker Simon, Tonya Davidson, Robert Dancik, Stephanie Lee and Sherri Haab.

Her current work focuses strongly in the art of precious metal clay which she first introduced to in 1999. Tamara has since become certified in this medium and continues to study, expanding her knowledge and skills. Her most recent creative pursuits include sharing her knowledge by teaching beginner and intermediate workshops this innovative medium. Classes are held in her home studio, the Mill Art Center in Honeoye Falls NY and the Genesee Valley Arts Center in Mt Morris NY.

Nicknamed Talulah many years ago by a close friend, combined with her own whimsical nature, she conjured up the name Talulah’s Fancy – which represents her original line of women’s accessories, including jewelry and handbags. Her connection to nature, and its power to inspire, help her to incorporate the very basic components of semi-precious stones, precious metals, recycled elements, and a variety of textiles creating many layers to the designs represented by Talulah’s Fancy. Her work is always original and always one-of-a-kind.

Her desire to combine her passion for creativity and love of working with people has added yet another fun and totally custom design component to her business. She encourages her clients to collaborate in the creative process - leading to a very fulfilling end result.

"Tamara has the talent of taking my idea and creating a personal gift, a work of art. Each gift has been a keepsake and treasure for my gift giving experiences"
- Sheryl Keith

As a resident of the Finger Lakes Region for most of her life, Tamara appreciates the nature and surrounding landscapes that make this area a popular destination. Her ability to draw from these inspirations is what has guided her on this creative journey and is a trademark of her talent. Through the many phases of her artistic career, she has demonstrated that by seeing the potential in the unique and unusual. When Tamara is not working in her studio she is enjoying time in her garden, fishing with her husband, or beautifying her home and she also enjoys cooking. She with her husband Jimmy and 2 cats Bogie and Sweet-pea, reside in a modest, woodland cottage on 15 acres in Honeoye Falls, NY where she is blessed and inspired by stunning views and wildlife. Tamara believes that anything is attainable if you have faith, “believe in your dreamsand nurture your own creative spirit”.

Always passionate about giving back, Tamara has donated many of her designs and art pieces to fundraising organizations such as The Battered Women’s Shelter of Rochester, Big Brothers, Big Sisters, The Seneca Park Zoo in Rochester, World Disaster Relief Organizations and Homeless Shelters. “The joy that comes from helping others” -she says…“is priceless”.
